Analysis of Fear earns a commission when a reader follows a link from this site to Amazon and makes a purchase. You pay the same price you’d pay going to Amazon directly; the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not your pocket.

We don’t buy or test the products we write about. Our analysis is built from manufacturer specifications and warranty terms, published standards, regulator data and recall notices, and published studies — not hands-on use. Every article says this directly, next to the links.

Which links

Any link to a retailer on this site should be assumed to be an affiliate link. They’re marked rel="sponsored nofollow" in the page source and route through this site’s own redirect before reaching the retailer, so we can count how many readers used them.

Right now, only our Amazon links earn anything. Links to Etsy and to manufacturers appear on this site too, but they are not part of any affiliate program we participate in, and they earn us nothing. Links to standards bodies, regulators, studies and news sources are never affiliate links.

What commission does not buy

An obvious incentive exists any time money changes hands, and the only honest thing to do about it is name it: in theory we could make more money by steering readers toward products or categories that pay more.

We decide what to recommend based on the criteria set out in each article; the commission on a given link is not a factor in that decision. As it stands, every retailer link on this site that earns us anything goes to Amazon, so there is no higher-commission alternative on the site to steer a reader toward. No brand has paid for a placement, a rank, or a change to anything written here. No brand has been given approval over an article before publication.
