Packing Cubes Organize a Bag. Compression Cubes Overfill It.
Packing cubes are mostly an organization tool. Compression cubes genuinely shrink clothes — and that is how bags end up over the weight limit rather than the size limit.

Luggage fails in three places, in a consistent order: wheels, then the telescopic handle, then the zip. The shell almost never fails first, which is awkward, because the shell is what the marketing is about.
These analyses follow that order. Whether the wheels are sealed bearings or bare plastic, whether the handle has one stage or two, and whether the zip is a coil or a chain — and, crucially, whether any of the three can be replaced without replacing the bag.
We also take airline sizing seriously, because a bag that fits the published dimensions and not the gate sizer is a bag that costs you money at the gate.

The classic U-shaped pillow puts most padding behind the neck. Upright sleepers’ heads drop forward and sideways — which is exactly where the pillow has least support.
Luggage marketing is about shells. Luggage failure is about wheels, handles and zippers — in that order, reliably, and usually well before the shell shows a scratch.
The two words are used interchangeably and mean completely different things. One reshapes a plug; the other changes the voltage. Confusing them is how hair dryers catch fire abroad.
A bag’s advertised dimensions often describe the body alone. US airline limits, and the metal sizer at the gate, measure everything — wheels, handles and the bulge from overpacking.
The shielding genuinely works. What is much harder to find is evidence that contactless skimming is a meaningful source of card fraud — and the cards themselves changed years ago.
